The term “cold” is a generic term for a mild upper respiratory tract infection usually caused by a Rhinovirus. The symptoms are mild with low-grade fever but can trigger a wheeze in a susceptible child and if it persists, it can lead to obstruction of Eustachian tubes (middle ear infection) or sinus infection. Manage with love, rest, saline nasal wash and oral/nasal decongestants where necessary.
