Feeding

Feeding is critical at any point in life, but even more so in the first year of life when nutrition determines your growth. Breast is best, obviously, but when it comes to choosing other kinds of milk; when and what to start with solids it is often useful to involve well-baby clinics, dieticians and in severe worrying cases with potential food dangers (allergies, metabolic disorders) to have the baby checked by a paediatrician first.

Beyond breast milk, the vast array of cows milk, goats milk, soya and other animal milk; as well as semi/partially digested milks; completely elemental milks; anti-reflux milks, lactose-free milks, calorie enhanced milks – it is a minefield worth having some guidance to get through.
