Infections are the norm for all of us and especially for an emerging immune system, in fact, 6-8 per year is the norm in children attending creche or preschool. Most infections are viral, some bacterial and occasionally parasitic. Markers of infection are many, but prolonged fevers; odd rashes; persistent vomiting/diarrhoea and recent travel should all be alarm bells to parents, to seek further assistance.
