Prophylaxis

Prophylaxis refers to any form of action to prevent illness or a negative outcome.  Vaccinations are the ultimate prophylaxis.  Special situations to discuss with your paediatrician include prophylaxis against:

  • Malaria (Travel)
  • Meningococcal Meningitis exposure
  • Tuberculosis
  • Viral exposures in children with low immunity or on immune-suppressing medication,
  • Lice, scabies or ringworm
